Vision: Our long-term vision for the community is holistic development, which aims to bring sustainable change to individuals and communities.

in our context, community development is a way to challenge inequalities by supporting communities to make the changes important to them.

We believe community development to be inclusive and open to everyone through supporting the local communities to use their own assets to improve community life and help communities and public bodies work together to improve how services are run and how decisions are made.

Our Approach

Health and wellbeing

WRO wants to continue implementing a mobile clinic initiative aimed at providing essential medical services and health education to remote rural communities that lack access to quality healthcare. The primary objectives of the health will have three main activities such as:-

  • Mobile Clinic Operations.
  • Health Education and Awareness.
  • Partnerships and Networking.

Water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) improvement

Progress on water-related challenges as framed in the Sustainable Development Goal 6 (SDG 6) on Clean Water and Sanitation will be an integral part of delivering on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable development.

Water is indeed inseparably linked to various sectors of human society, serving as a common basis that runs through almost all sustainable development goals. To cite only a few examples, Clean Water and Sanitation is a basic requirement for human health and access to water a requirement for poverty alleviation. Water is also a vital input to agricultural production, a major source of livelihood in the region while Somaliland faces serious water-related challenges.

Climate Change Justice

WRO will raise awareness, influence policy, and hold leaders accountable for climate justice in the country and the region by engaging and targeting the following groups:

  • Vulnerable Communities: Support climate resilience and adaptation efforts.
  • Youth: Empower future leaders through climate education and activism.
  • Indigenous Peoples: Recognize and respect indigenous knowledge and rights.
  • Policy Makers: Influence climate policy and decision-making processes.

Inclusive Education

Our organization focuses on promoting functional literacy and adult education, and our goal is to create a literate and educated community, equipped to drive positive change and sustainable development through: –

  • Enhancing access to quality education for marginalized communities.
  • Fostering a culture of lifelong learning.
  • Developing skills for economic empowerment and environmental sustainability.
  • Promoting gender equality and social inclusion

Capacity Building

Empowering community members to take ownership of their development through training, education, and resource provision. WRO often collaborate with local governments, communities, and other stakeholders to drive positive change and sustainable development.

By following this framework, WRO can effectively build capacity in communities, ensuring sustainable development and impact: 

  • Facilitate capacity-building processes, providing guidance and support.
  • Empower communities to take ownership and lead their development.
  • Provide resources, expertise, and networks to complement community efforts.
  • Regularly assess progress, and impact, and adjust capacity-building strategies

Sustainable livelihoods and resilience enhancement

Enhance economic empowerment, food security and sustainable agriculture practices.  This activity will also support disaster risk reduction (DRR) is an integral part of social and economic development, and is essential if development is to be sustainable for the future.
